It's a racoon. Racoons have long, human like fingers. As for the beak, when an animal begins to decay, the face is one of the first to go. The upper "beak" is actually just bone. If you look at skulls of racoons or any onther animal with an elongated nose, that's what it looks like. As for no fur, as animals decay, they also lose the fur first, and bloat. Being in the water also affects how the corpse decays.

As for the turtle theory, that's impossible. Turtle's bone structures are the shells, the backbone is part of the shell. It's not some new "monster" or species, it's a decaying corpse of some animal that merely washed up on shore.

I find this very interesting. I have been studying up on this myself more since this last corpse was found, and I found your blog and videos to be informative and interesting despite it being pure speculation.

It has a canine like skull. However I began thinking and in one official video it shows a paw like forearm on the “animal” and on the same carcass show the bird like fingers. Could those me the phalanges, and just be missing a few prior to it washing up on the beach or is it indeed a raccoon. Who knows, but to me it seems quite odd that in most blogs even on Papers blog in the way that people describe the creatures it seemed to much bigger than the average coon. Indeed the animal is boated, and that would expand its torso, but it wouldn't elongate the body and definitely not the skeletal structure. Maybe I have my facts wrong.

I am like you I hope they find out that it is something far more interesting than a dog, pig, turtle, or raccoon. Sorry for this being so long as it doesn't really give any incisive information just merely opinion.

If you want to know what I really think. I think it is a government scam, trying to distract people from something they are doing. Hahaha who knows though right?

Look at the other picture of this same one, lying on its side. It can easily be seen that it is a pig or boar. Its ears, "hooves", and semi-curly tail.(also check out a pig skull and compare) Why is a pig in the water? Well, Plum island. They work with pigs and help support farmers and farming animals (check the 'About Us' page on the Plum Island Animal Safety Website) Pig could have easily drown in the water, or body dumped. Actually, to me the skull looks considerably more like that of a husky, I compared general size and tooth layout from the video to a skull. Looks like whatever weirdo did this they removed the front teeth, specifically the canines, but the canine holes are still there. I agree about the body though, it looks like a pig. Especially the way the hind legs are splayed out and the fatty tissue of the neck. And, of course, there's no way a mammalian animal like this would have four-pronged bird-like claws. It's a hoax, and a pretty badly constructed one at that. I could make this in my garage, if I had the stomach.

That, and notice all the strategically placed sea weed and sand. conveniently it disguises the general state of the limbs, making the silly chicken feet harder to see.

Well this thing couldve been decomposing for weeks, who knows what it looked like before and heres something really weird. I heard from someone on youtube say that scientists were conducting experiments on a 23 year old bald eagle and a 253lb pig, which could explain the pig like body and the bird feet. Actual comment:

Looking at the picture I had posted of this thing, I'm really beginning to think its an actual boar. Boars tend to have those bottom teeth as do canines, but actually larger (both length and width)

This animal is clearly a different one from the first monster, but whoever is doing this, whether its the Plum Island people or some plan freaks, is ridiculous. Disgusting. I find it weird the people who found this would call the bloggers who run the blog were contacted first? k, from the most recent pictures it looks like a bloated sheep. If you look close, it has a snout like a dog but the teeth are not similar to a canine. The shape of the head also reminds me of a sheep. Now if it had somehow fell into the ocean or whatever, and has been there for quite some time it would indeed get water logged and end up all bloated like the picture. Just my thought after looking at the newest picture closely.

I agree with eric. I think it's more likely a viral marketing ploy for that show about cryptids. I mean the first thing that comes to my mind is a Kappa or Hyosube (google search or something for info) which are both a type of water sprite found in japanese mythology. Its most likely a Large Sea Turtle that has been dead for a while and bloated, Now before you say Turtles have shells without it you can see there insides, there are type of Turtles without shells so maybe just maybe its a species without a shell thats died the feet/claws could have been due to fish eating at em to leave just the bones and the brain is right there almost due to the skin becomin soft and decaying from being dead, Just a idea though

ok this is my opion it does lok like it has similar features of a pig but ther r a few differences lik for example everyone is saying that the legs lok lik those of a pigs but if u lok closely youll notice that the legs seem to short for them to pigs legs i have also noticed that people r saying the head looks lik a cow skull sticking out of the neck region i however think the neck contracts if u lok just above the head ull see the neck folds bac on its self now its possible that they did while stuffing a skull in the neck but if u tak a close lok at the head it loks a lot lik an eels because the nose area doesnt open up no it loks even more lik 2 jaw bones meeting plus it loks lik may be a carnivore becasue of the sharp loking teeth at the front of the jaws i hav one more thing to add if u lok at the huge openings on the side of the skull they lok more lik eye sockets to me so eric if u read this i would love to hear ur opion on my analyses

ok i may be wrong when i posted the first response i hadnt loked at the first montauk monster and after seeing it i believe that this trhing we see right now is fake but the first one loked very real from what i saw it had two feet in the front two flippers in the bac and skull structure of a large bird i cant say what it mit eat but i would say that meat is probably one of its main sources .

I just think it's some kind of animal that was in the water for a long time after life. And please to all you people out there. If you're going to speak or type a language, do so in normal words! None of this luk, r, u, and etc. I mean really. Do you wonder why people look down on America's national IQ.
And this is not a turtle as the shell of a turtle does not come off after death. At least not naturally. The first "monster" gave everyone in the area a scare. Guess what it turned out to be, a dog. Now if you have any scientific brain at all, then you would realize that science is based on repeating occurences. Something can't just be looked at once and it suddenly becomes a new law. Things must reoccur in order for them to be scientific. I mean if it has no qualities of something else then yes you have found a completely new species. But this thing looks like other animals such as a racoon. The events of Jesus and everything like that is really annoying to listen to. Why does there have to be a God for people to be nice to one another. Religion is based on fear. There are some though that aren't but those describe a way to live peacefully with other people. There is no fear in it at all. In Christianity you supposedly go to Hell if you don't worship God. I see how some people need that in order to be good but to have your children to be ignorant of other peoples beliefs is just so stupid. And if any of you hard core Christians really paid attention to anything the bible says. The main message it gets across is to be good to fellow man or woman. And as I go to a Christian school, they taught me of what you would call God's unconditional love which states that he loves all humans equally, therefore we all go to Heaven. That's only if you believe in it.



Sorry for going off track. I just can go on and on about how many times Christians contradict themselves.

No, we all do not go to heaven, Only those who accept Jesus Christ as their one and only savior from the life that we live. Lets face it a lot of us have problems that seem bigger than us, and if you dont then you are lying to your self, and no we cant just chalk it up to karma or some other stupid reason the world is against us. GOD in HIS love gave HIS only son so that we could be close to HIM. It is only through that sacrifice that we can go to heaven, not just being good to our fellow man & women. If that s all you got out of school then you missed the point completely. Jesus shed his blood for OUR sin, and we all are sinners, HE died so that YOU could have the chance to go to heaven. The only thing that will stop you you from going to heaven, is you..... Your pride will say that is too easy, just to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. We have all given our live to one stupid thing or another. And for what, a few seconds of fun, "true love"(thats for you high school kids) , money, friends, fame ?????
So like I said, we do not all go to heaven.. but if you can open your eyes and see the need for the ONLY person that knows all your pain, all you secrets, all your dreams, all your questions, all you doubts, all your fears, and all thoughts of HIM, then all yolu need to do is call out to Jesus and HE WILL SAVE YOU!!!! its either a cow or pig. You can tell that at one time it was white with large black spots. The legs look so short because the animal is bloated from being in the ocean. the skull in the picture looks more like a cow skull than a pig skull, though it is hard to see the bottom of the jaw in this picture.

I don't think its a dog because dogs have pink skin under their fur. Raccoons don't have spots like that.

As someone who has taken countless vertebrate anatomy classes and animal science classes, I can honestly say that I've never studied any dog's anatomy that looks like this. The hind quarters are just not angular or jointed enough for it. I have also read speculations on people considering that it may be a raccoon. Also an almost impossibility judging from this angle. There is far too much fat to be considered a raccoon. Unless spending the majority of it's life in captivity, raccoons tend to be much leaner due to a high metabolism. I would have been very interested to read any report of an autopsy of the animal. I'm not saying that I am an expert and can say for sure that this animal isn't one of the many things it's been claimed to be, but from the knowledge that I have obtained I just can't see any anatomical resemblance to those animals. It is strange that the couple carried it off. If they did infact plant it there and it is in fact some domestic or wild animal that they have skinned just for publicity, that's sick.

From a TV show I saw that did genetic and bone testing, it used to be a dog, or at least is most closely related to a dog. At least the first one was. Apaprently on an island a bit off the shore was a private very hush-hush genetic testing lab that used dogs and other animals as their test subjects. Before they were shut down, some of the animals got out and they denied any connection to try to save themselves.

The bodies are just finally washing up on the shore.

It could simply be a migrating species. There have been reported stories of fresh water marine life being found in sea water enviornments. For example: a shark once swam up stream following a fishing boat. It was later found washed up on the side of a freshwater lake shore. I believe it to be an abnormaly large platypus. It's "beak" could be the remains of whats left of it's bill. It porpotion has obviously changed as the gases in the body have swollen and caused the body to act like a ballon. Now i belive this is not the same animal as the first. They look far to different to even be cousins. So as i cannot explain the first creature i can give facts

The reason miscellaneous monster sightings are not authenticated or disproved is because of the links to many supposed extinct prehistoric animals or dinosaurs. The only proven one I've seen was the existence of the lobe-finned fish or coelacanth. The reality is that evolution is looked at as fact . Okay. First, I am only ten years old. But please listen to me. The Montauk Monster is an escaped Government expirement. It was crossed with an eagle, a turte, and a mole. The hands are floppy and slimy because the moles snout is like that. It's snout is crossed with the turtle and the hawk's snout. the bod HAD feathers but fell off when it escaped and went in the water. It laid eggs, the opposite from the mammal. It looks like a dog sprawled out with it's bottom jaw ripped off and covered by something black. You can see the top part of the jaw where the nose should be and an eye. The feet are decaying and it looks as if the neck could have been broken. I'm not sure about the ears, though the tail is almost hidden behind the creature. Any twisted body parts could have been caused by waves and rapids the body went through. But clearly it is just a dog and nothing to work yourself up on.

How often do you look at rotting carcasses of pigs, turtles, bears, etc. in the sand on a tidally influenced beach? The simplest explanation is never a new discovery. It is the responsibility of scientists to rule out all known facts before we begin formulating a new hypothesis that we haven't observed a phenomenon previously. In fact, "new discoveries" is a relative term, most new discoveries are simply modifications of a previously held theory, not the changing of some well-established paradigm or scientific law. Years of training in science isn't necessary to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Good luck with your blogging, no wonder misinformation campaigns are so easy in these United States.

Hate to say it, but the 'dead mermaid' was fake. It was sculputured by a mermaid sculputurer, of course. Never heard about the stone fish, so yeah. But the mermaid was was made out of fish scales, some shitty nasty hair, and this clay looking stuff. I read about it at my local library. But I do agree with you on the whole 'new discover monster' thing. I just consider all these things either fake, or just another creature. Like the dead mermaid, I considered it real at first, but then fake because of the looks and stuff. Now, Nessy, I'm sure is another fake. Kinda. But if it isn't, it's probably just another creature roaming the Earth in it's lake like it's supposed too. I'd say pig. The "tail" looks more like entrail exiting from the anus not the tail bone, where a tail would come from in pig. Based on the partially buried facial structure I'd say this is definitely a pig with its facial skin pulled back. Looks like birds probably picked apart the face and anus, which is a very common scavenger strategy. Lots of accessibility to soft tissues, whereas getting through the tough skin of a pig would take a larger species than most common sea birds. The carcass is obviously bloated, which makes it look unlike its living counterpart. The presence of dewclaws (the small "toes" towards the rear of the feet) are a dead giveaway that this is not a bear, it is a pig, a very dead pig. Did anyone blogging here finish high school biology? Use the scientific method people, it's your friend.

At first I thought it was a dog...but it was hard for me to tell. Then Boris (another communicater you can see down below) said it was a pit bull that was in a dog fight, and I agree that is what it is. Also it's face must have been seriously hurt during the fight...I dont agree with dog fights because they are cruel to animals who don't have a choice...they have to fight or they will die. This is Kenny and i don't think that the first and the second monsters are the same type of species. For one, the second looks like some freaky, fat, really small cow. And it doesn't look like the second one has a beak. To me, I think that it looks like some kind of cow that was grazing and fell off a cliff or someth'n. Then it probably stayed in the water to long, died, and got washed up on the beach. And with the stupid couple that stuffed it into a bag, they're just plain stupid, POINT BLANK.

With all the twisted things people do I can agree that it might be an experiment. Perhaps if someone was attempting to breed some different things together and that happened I would also believe that. If it was indeed a pig a simple autopsy could have probably told us because a pigs body is surprisingly similar to our own. Also If you look at the head and neck the snout is to long for it to be a pig. The neck is also to long. Last time I saw a pig was June 10, 2009 during a pig dissection. It looks like a pig. It is not possible to see the whole neck, so it might but cut in the part that is below the body in this pic. This neck might be a little bigger than the usual, but if the skull is removed ( completely or in parts) and the body had remained into the water the time enought, I believe that it's realy possible the neck structure looks like this.

Of course, the beak part is the most interesting part of it. But it doesn't look like some kind of structure made by hard tissue. It's all sandy, so the very end can't be seen. But it I still think that this Montauk Monster is actualy a rotten pig!

Well... first of all... It CAN'T be a turtle and I'm going to explain you the whys...A sea turtle, a green turtule, a carey turtle... any f*cking turtle! THEY DON'T HAVE ANY SKIN UNDERNEATH THE SHELL!! Beneath the shell (both parts of it) lies only the meat and the internal organs... so you won't see any skin like this one.

Second... that's no raccoon...it's f*cking obvious.
It certanly looks more like a pig, due to the colour of the skin. But it doesen't fit exactly to the anathomy of any member from the pig family. The skull seems to be more damaged than the rest of the body, that's a weird situation...seems a little staged.

Then again, the skull does not fit quite well with the rest of the body. I would need more pictures to tell with more accuracy, but in conclution...

Hey....this picture was on google images last year. I somehow became a loser overnight and was obsessed with the "real" picture so i dl'd the "real" pic, the "fake" blue dog pic and then this pic. I enlarged all of them and know pretty much every detail. The "real" pic IS NOT A RACCOON! The real one is the reddish creature with a piece of leather strap still tied to it's right wrist. Im not sure what the pic above is, but the one last year (the blue dog) is a TOTALLY different animal, it looks NOTHING like the reddish one and why would someone reposition the body? and take the leather strap of the wrist? And the decay on the blue dog is not the same as the reddish one. And why has noone mentioned the fact that the blue dog pic....you can totally tell its done with photoshop. I have enlarged all of them, its very easy to see the attachment line in the pic. And another thing....how many raccoons are dying in the water off montauk? seriously people, i lived in hawaii for 5 years, on the beach for 2 years, raised by san francisco for 10 years, I NEVER once saw a raccoon or anything like these things wash up on shore. And if I saw the reddish creature on the beach, i would be taking it to a reputable scientist, not allowing it to decay in my backyard. The pic above is not the same creature that everyone was talking about 2 years ago, this isnt a "new" pic, but it is a different animal.

Well I dont think its a Turtel, for the simple fact that Turtels dont have skin under there shell.
And in other photo's you clearly see hair on its back.

On some of the photos the head looks like a Cat skull, even in the first find.
Only the head is partly in the sand, making it look like a beak.
I think it could be a Cat-like creature, and its body is big because its 'obviously' dead and bin in the water.

But it also looks like a good prank :)

Beautiful little creature actually, if its real i would love to see a live one, i bet they are very interesting the way they work.

Personally i think the whole thing is a con, it doesn't cost much to mutilate a poor dog or make something that looks and feels like rubber along with making a smell to it.
I honestly am sure that its probably some guy who wanted to freak people out, so he made a blue print of what he thought would be good, and began making something. Or he took a bunch of animals, slaughtered them and stuck them together with wire seamlessly.

From what I'v seen, the animals are different. The 'third' one looks like a dog, where as this one looks sort of like a pig wihout a head. or a dog without a head and all of its legs half cut off. I haven't seen the first picture of the first 'creature', but I have to wonder why they're only showing up dead now, and why so many in such little time? No. If this really were a new creature, then a) there would be more press coverage, b) there would be more cases of found creatures over the past hundred years, and c) they would find bodies that are more adapted to the sea. This animal is heavy set, and has fur. There is no way it is a sea creature. Alien lifeform is more plausable simply because they could come at any time, and they may not understand living conditions here on Earth. So there are two options: A: Mistreated animal, or B: Alien creature.

it is way to big to be a coon I had one in my sun room eating my cats food. And the first had the skull of a cat i have seen a cat skull I do not know why but the first also had the teth of a meat eater an old meat eater. Next, this was certainly a raccoon, as were all three involved. There was no cat skull, and the teeth and skull in no way match a cat. I have numerous cat skulls and these animals are all raccoons, not cats...

I'll try to tell you guys something, but I will not be able 2 give you my whole side of the story.
I say that because my comment on this matter mysteriously disappeared so I had 2 get something right. I've read all these new comments and they almost cover every rumor out there and yet they are still here for us 2 read. There are TWO certain creatures that i will not mention because I want you 2 see this comment and I fear that if I mention one of those two creatures, U will never kno I even mentioned this. So instead of telling you what this thing is... I will tell you what its not. First off for all you "professionals" and followers of ppl u think are smart and repeat what they say because u wanna sound smart.lol. It is no where's near a raccoon.sheesh.It is not a sheep although the "blue dog's" skull looks familiar to that of a sheep.Some ppl say a dog. Well a dogs skull is shaped very diff. from all photos, and all three are definitely not dog bodies. They look more like pig bodies but aren't pigs either. All three monsters look diff. so maybe that'll open you're mind a little more. Also, if this was a prank I think ppl would spend time on making it look believeable rather than "fake and unbelieveable." Just because it doesn't make sense or doesn't look right means it's fake. A "triop" is one example. Each one of these montauk monsters look diff. and posses a common likeliness but also have differences. They all have those flabby arms n legs that look almost human(mini) n a litlle pig-ish.They have skinny dull clawed fingers and a familiar testicular look i should say. Now all the skulls are diff. I will skip mentioning what they look like cuz U've all already seen. But go look again and you will notice that the skin next to the exposed skull has no sign of decay... Thats prob. all I can say about this monster w/o my comment disappearing again. Just remember 2 leave ur mind open 2 possibilites as we are finding many new creatures we never knew existed before. The white suggests that the thing does not get constand sunlight so it was living in a very dark place. What most people suspect is the head (facing down left) looks to me like a squids or an octopus beak with the folds of skin that can make it retractible. The limbs suggest that it does not walk well on land and therefore is an ocean dwelling animal. The lack of eyes also further the truth about it living in a dark place. Also because there is nothing beside it to compare size to it is almost imposible to relize how big or small it really it. The light reflecting skin suggests that it does not have scales and possibly amphibious like a frog of salamander. But because of the four limbs on all sides it could be a creature that walks along the bottom of the ocean floor like a frogfish.
Thats just what I can think whan I look at something new that is weird. Make sure what I know, apply it to the question and see what happens. This also takes other people to do because it also triggers thoughts they may have not come up with during their anyalazis.

eric, i believe this "montauk monster" as some believe it is could be a number of things. could be technology gone wrong, could be a deep sea critter that lives so far down into the ocean that it has been left undiscovered....or it could be something as simple as a dog. when dogs drown in water, their bodies fill up with water. there is some similarity between the body of this "monster" and the body of an everyday dog. the only difference is the head. wtf is up with that head? its like mutated and crap. idk. i doubt anyone will ever know.

It looks to me as if they've found a dead dog body that's washed up...and if you look closely at the front of what's supposed to be the face...it looks like they've cut off the paw and stuffed it into the front of the face. the claws can even be seen, and notice both the paws are missing, as are the feet. It's gross, and whoever created it is a sensationalist--and also gross to do something like this. The first picture of a the so-called Montauk Monster had a beak, and really did look authentic...this is a sham...

I'm not quite sure what that thing is. Theres all kinds of really good explanations for something like that, and all of them are equal in possibility due to the fact that it's just a picture. ANd then it's one that was on the internet, not like having it recieved from the source or actually seeing the thing in person. Where in most cases I would be like 'holy crap I have seen something like that!' or 'oh my god that thing is so freaking crazy!' I won't say that because I don't know what's real and what isn't. in one side you have this thing that no one knows about but the body isn't very detailed. Also in the photo I see what appears to be depressions that were made by human interferance. Those are both the downfalls. another would be that theres only one shot, it's from secondary source, and no one saw it but the couple. it's odd that they took it away, wich means that it probably is a hoax. only one thing turns me away from it being a hoax and that is the skin tone looks like it has been in the water over 72 hours. It looks great for a drowned animal, and what looks to be like the hair was shredded off, but it's very concentrated. I do not doubt that there are things out there like this, but this one I would say is entirely fake. It bothers me to see people on here griping about it, like a few I have seen that are nasty, to all of you, this is a public website, at least try to keep it clean. As for your creature, I would say it is a hoax... at least this picture anyway.

Well i'm sure if people took the time to research what all the government is doing now days they wouldn't find these pictures as well as others as fake. But with all the fake pictures out there how do you tell whats real and whats not? The first picture is most believable to me because of the detail of the beaked face, the "skin" coloration and how it looks real as if you could touch it. Also in the first picture its hard to tell if the front legs are splayed apart like the other two pictures, one on each side or if that is just the sand and the leg that you can see clearly is really deformed, or perhaps the top of its body is slightly twisted and its front legs were bound by the piece of material that looks wrapped around one... Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it?? The Second and Third pictures have similarities with each other that are not with the first.. Like how the skull looks as if it has been picked clean and yet the rest of the body remains intact with traces of perhaps fur even, both the second and third pictures show the creature with white looking flesh, but in my opinion it seems as if the skulls have been placed. A few things that seem odd to me as if they should be important yet may be nothing, 1. The first one had a beak where the others did not. 2. Hasn't anyone noticed that the first and third pictures show the upper body of the creatures laying in a position (almost) identical to one another? and 3. Their feet front and back, are not the same SO it could be that the government has been doing experimentation involving different animals maybe? Anyway the third picture shows damage done to the flesh/skin which looks similar to a ripped plastic bag that was containing or covering something. I'm not for sure if any of them are real or fake, But I do know the government has been heavy into DNA splicing and the genetic alteration of whatever holds their interest at the time, and one good way to cover up something real that has been stumbled upon is make it seem fake or recreate something similar and have it played off as a hoax so people won't believe what was real to begin with... or make things as well as people disappear. If no one provides anything for testing you could never know for sure, also whose to say they wont OR can't produce the carcass because they already handed it over to someone or it may have been taken (or it was a fake). Remember the government can do what it wants, when it wants to and unless all the people fight against them nothing can be done.

To me, it looks like a poorly decapitated animal in a very stretchy bag just because the neck "skin" and the "head" look different in color and it doesn't look connected to me, :S. Maybe it could be a bunch of dead fish in a bag with other things in it, Or it could be a mutated sea manatee with a motor to the head or something. But i'm not sure i don't believe its a "monster".

it looks like a bloated corpse of a dog, and it appears that the skull has been flayed away from the cranium by wear and tare from water erosion, i would have to examine the corpse more closely to be completely sure, but it does appear to be a short limbed dog from the photo, maybe an English bull terrier or a british Bull dog.
