Eric Striffler's Blog!
People say it's part pig, cow, human or rodent.
In that article from the Agriculture Research Service it mentions all of those.
Just something to think about, I suppose.
whatever it is, I'm just glad it's dead because if it was an alien, it could have harmed somone
haha just kidding but that would be pretty cool.... i guess???
maybe its....drumroll please.... A DODO BIRD!!!!!!!!
*cricket cricket*
ok maybe not, but that thing is either really cool, or really dumb (if its fake)
whatever the fuck it is, im glad its deaddd.
yikes.
but they're ultimate conclusion is that its a fake and they believe the photo was manipulated with computer software because "the sun would have to be in two places at the same time to get a shadow in one direction on the body and in another direction on the head(maybe that's why the monster also appears to be flipping the bird.)"
oh and turtles don't have teeth either
Most likely, it's viral...that site you mentioned http://www.cryptidsarereal.com/ is really interesting, it could be that.
Another possibility, is something someone has done before...stitch up a few animal parts...really well...and there you have it.
P.S - There is no way it's a turtle.
considering that the picture is up close and doesn't look like an amateur picture it's probably fake
I was expecting a picture with people standing around it further away
How big is it?
Or it's maybe fake
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,395294,00.html
i doubt it's a turtle though.
CHECK IT OU

Definitely NOT a turtle.
and if it is viral marketing, Kudos to Cartoon Network.

look at the head/face of that creature its kinda similar. wierd Oo
I have never seen any mammal, amphibian, reptile or avian species that looks anything like this -and I have an animal medicine degree. If it is an "animal" -and I stress IF - it has some unusual features:
- no animal has both a beak AND teeth
- although it's body resembles a pig, all porcines have hooves on all four feet, like their bovine (cow) relatives
- its tail is not common to any known species
(also, if it IS an animal) I noticed other noteworthy details in the picture:
- it looks as though it has sustained severe bruising; such bruise marks are always the result of tissue injury before death
- the fabric wrapped around the right foreleg looks to be tied around both forelegs (or forearms); as it washed up on the beach, if it was alive, it likely drowned.
In this case, it is not outside the realm of possibility that it is an animal hybrid, as such cross-breeding experiments are in existence.
I really hope that it's a movie prop, otherwise, it is very very saddening.
idiots!
Next time people should think with their head before blurting out MONSTER!!!!!!
Was the carcas of the animal retrieved or was in just the pictures that have been taken in for edvidence?
Like ManBearPig from southpark..but the bear had been substituted by penguine?
Turtle looks really close to it^.
testing is a really bad thing that dos some really bad thing to anmails
i bet thats wheat happend it got out of the place and ended up hear.. what ever it was rather be much more happy on a shore then in a small cage getting neddles stuck into it every 2 min.
Oh and, they already claimed it to be dead, some kids had the remains in there back yard.
It could possibly be a demon or alien though ?!? If the scientists can't identify its type then this could possibly be on of those forever mysteries :D!
What's fishy is that they already have tee shirts and stuff with this thing plastered on them. "I GOT BEAKED." Seriously. My guess isn't worth much but I think it's an experiment gone wrong, crazy as that sounds (it's better than "zomg demon, demon!" or "dude, manbearpig.") Marketing for a movie/tv show? Why Montauk, then?
But if it was an experiment gone wrong, the government would've come to collect it already. Maybe that's where it went, eh? No one really has any clear idea as to where the damn thing is now.
I don't know. Can't say. I'm not, as the saying goes, an expert. I'm just a humble Long Islander who happened upon this monstrosity in the paper today.
A lot of strange things go on in this world. Is anyone really clear about what happens on Plum Island? Yeah, experiments pertaining to animal illness, but nothing's ever been released in real detail. Am I wrong? Sorry if I am. Again. Humble Islander. Stumbled upon it in the paper.
And I read that a certain Plum dude claims it's a cat? The article that was included in made it sound like, since he said it, it must be so.
Of course he'd make such a claim. Would he admit it's a butchered critter if it was done by his hand or the hand of a fellow?
Mmm. Whatever. This whole thing will be forgotten soon, I'm sure.
If the government doesn't have it, I'd suggest whoever does to put it up for auction on ebay or something. Make its teeth into necklaces. It'd be a hit.
(just kidding. ; ] )
PS: it's not a turtle.
its probably the marketing thing you were talking about or a hoax of some sort.
i mean think about it a hot day in long island and there is only one "fly " on the decomposing body.
trust me that thing would be covered in flies like no other .
it is most deff a hoax.
Thank you so much for this, he was lost a few weeks back, well thanks.
lollllolololooolollololololo
It must be a mutated/tested animal of some sort. Or a stunt. Or a breeding thing.
I hope its an alien.
It won't be, but i hope.
the nose (beak) could be the nose of a dog if it had fleash on it + it looks like bone not a beak look at the hole in the beak
now the "hell arms" or w/e they were called could just simply be the decayed paws and exposed nails and bone
more evidence
look at the fur thats still kinda there and the bloating.
this is what i imagine happened
theroy 1, family dog buried at sea ( may have not had a yard)
theroy 2, that animal testing center was disposing of a dog that they killed and this one drifted underwater to shore
just my two cents
btw... it's not a turtle... their shells are a part of their body...crazy people
btw... it's not a turtle... their shells are a part of their body...crazy people
that pretty much validates my point... case closed.... it's just a dead racoon...
The scientists 'second best' guess is "a decomposed dog with a damaged skul."
Or it could even be photoshopped. The only evidence is two photos. There's no video proof or anything. And it mysteriously dissappeared... One of the 'phototakers' said that her friend - sorry, I forgot his name - brought it to his backyard. "That thing is rotting back there."
Monster or fake? Once again, there's no sure evidence of anything, and it's probaby going to stay that way.
But William Wise, director of Stony Brook University's Living Marine Resources Institute, after looking at the photo and consulting with a fellow biologist (who knows land creatures), disagrees.
He knows what it isn't.
•A raccoon. ("The legs appear to be too long in proportion to the body.")
•A sea turtle. ("Sea turtles do not have teeth.")
•A rodent. ("Rodents have two huge, curved incisor teeth in front of their mouths.")
He said the general body shape looks like a dog or other canine ("Coyote?"). But that the "prominent eye ridge and the feet" don't match.
He said the feet and face look "somewhat ovine" - that would be like a sheep - but sheep don't have sharp teeth.
Wise's best, educated guess: "A talented someone who got very creative with latex."
In other words, a fake - which would place Wise with the skeptics. (Many of whom believe the image was manipulated with computer software.) And from where I sit, and after checking with Newsday's photo staff, I'd vote fake, too. Because the sun would have to be in two places at the same time to get a shadow in one direction on the body and in another direction on the head. (Maybe that's why the monster also appears to be flipping the bird.)
But Wise also offered what he called a next-best guess: "A dog or coyote that was diseased and has been in the sea for a while."
Which is it? Without the body, nobody can say.
Hewitt said she knows where the Montauk Monster rests.
"A guy took it and put it in the woods in his backyard; he has a big backyard," she said. "The thing is rotting there."
But she wouldn't say who; wouldn't say where.
No matter.
The beastie's a legend now. Fodder for campfire tales, T-shirts and stuffed animals.
It's alive!
it can be a terrapin turtle...
I know for sure this isn't a turtle. I think it's a dog a dog that was abused and murdered and I really don't think it's a monster.

Enjoy.

1 the thing on its wrist. it may have had like a number on it or somthing and it washed away in the water. It could have also been on a leash type thing and broke away
2 WHAT IS THAT WIERD LOOKING CREEPY THING ON ITS NECK! my dog has a tiny version of something like that and so does my friend's dog.
3 LOOK AT ITS CREEPY WIERD HANDS TOO WITH THOSE HUGE FINGERS! what is that all about! Idk about you guys but i have NEVER SEEN ANY ANIMAL WITH HANDS LIKE THAT.
now yes... it does look like a turtle but only its head. below his/her/other lower back it looks like a dog. The rest of its body looks unlike any other animal. I personaly think that the government didnt MAKE the animal but STUDYED it. yes...i do think it is alien spicies. we havent seen any other thing like this on earth so WHY NOT! We cant rule out any ideas but this to me is the best idea. if you want to discuss it more with me or you agree aim me at instastar.
when dogs are left in water(the ocean) they tend to become fatter/bigger. its deffinately not a turtle, or a raccoon..
Also this dead creature is hairy. What turtle is hairy? And this dead animal looks like it had a nose of some kind. Not just two holes like a turtle.
And just look at the skin. It's not even similar.
DOG!
get a fuckin' life ...
pussyface
P.S.
that crypton are real or w/e is a really good guess it could very likel;y be that i didn't think of that
I saw your clip in youTube.
That is what I found for you and others ,who wants to know more about this strange creature, our ancetsor used to call this animal as a myth and unreal. In my country (Persia/Iran) there are many statues build in 2500 years ago, exactly like this animal in Shiraz one of our historical cities, that you can see in this link and compare it with this new animal :
http://ahura-zartosht.persianblog.ir/post/349
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PZZ1VRoVRo&feat...
but i think its a animal test subject
there probably like combining different animals 2 make a new species or somthin
:)
it's definitively a Griffin without wings :)
D:
now that would be much more amazing.
why didn't those dam dumb ladies take the body :/
makes me mad >:l
now there is no way to find out what it really was.
i saw your vid questioning its id
its not a turtle of any sort :)
delete that thought out of your mind
and i wouldn't doubt it being a failed experiment by the government.
Oh well
wont know till someone actually has the body!
btw
i don't like blogs :)
i have no idea what i'm doing here :)
ciao
Frog I made at to I bot a nesnak if you now what it is at makes the animal mad I don that so I
Can ceat out if new work away is ban made agen is in the top by 3 years is not don what at Needs
more time is not going to be mad this time
I am convinced that it's a wingless Griffin!
This is clearly a dog or a raccoon that has been in the water and began to decompose.
p.s. you should email V.V. argost or cryptzooallagist.
From
Rozen85
looks like a bird/very large rat??!!
things like this never happen in england LOL
p.s. email me at beachxbabe127@yahoo.com
PS. who found this retarded thing in the first place and ehere is it now???
Ears...Its there!
Cannine teeth.
Snout has been nibbled away by fish.
Fur washed away since its dead and also its been in sea water for so long.
You can see the paws, they look long cause the damn thing is hairless!
MISSING. not mission.
-_-
In the "new" picture it looks pretty much like a dog but there are big differences with both the pictures such as tone of the skin and added features , The dead creature grew fucking ears is pretty much what the "new" picture is telling me...... or the "ears" are just folded over :(
Anyway , My girlfriend and I are like " what the fuck IS that ? " .
this is a raccoon skull
and that might not even be a "beak" it could be a smashed/caved in nose/snout
as for the thing around it's arm, like the scruff around it's neck, could just be used to cover up the seams where either someone photoshopped two carcasses together, or actually sewed two carcasses together... either points to hoax.
and with your turtle comparison theory... that is a sea turtle, land turtles have different 'arms' but yeah, even land tutle limbs don't look like that.
to me, it most closely resembles a pig. skin and face wise...
but it could also be some sort of fetal animal, it would help if we had some sort of scale to go by... but you know, something that wasn't ready to be born yet. It's "hands" look undeveloped to me.
:o
hey Eric,
so I kinda like you
and I think your sexy
and I think we should make babies,
kay sweet :) <3
